Truefitt & Hill, Henry Poole and Netflix cater for proper ‘Gentlemen’ on Savile Row

Tailor Henry Poole and men’s grooming expert Truefitt & Hill are joining forces for Concours on Savile Row, which takes place in central London on May 22-23, 2024.

Henry Poole and Truefitt & Hill came together to partner with Netflix, creating an exclusive collection of typically British products in celebration of the new TV series The Gentlemen. An adaption of Guy Ritchie’s 2019 movie, the series promises to take viewers into a world where aristocracy and world-class criminals collide, featuring acting stars Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones and Ray Winstone.

Watching in wonderment as the fictional character of Eddie Horniman, the Duke of Halstead, smoulders throughout the hotly anticipated The Gentlemen, one is reminded of similar swells and bucks who continue to pass through the haloed doors of British heritage male grooming brand Truefitt & Hill. Royalty, aristocrats, movie stars and stylish rouges, Truefitt & Hill has seen them all – some gentlemen ahead of their time, some gentlemen of their time, sharing a love of one aroma: the sleek scent of Sandalwood.

Suitably packaged with crest and regal embellishment, The Gentlemen Sandalwood from Truefitt & Hill packs a punch. It has taste and swagger, and seethes with a rich perfume – at its core is lavender with a rich top note of lemon and bergamot, which plays with the more anchored base note of sandalwood, musk and amber. The Gentlemen Sandalwood owns the room, by adding a dominant fragrant layer that says “I am in charge, I am king, I am The Gentlemen“.

As the oldest male-grooming brand in the world, Truefitt & Hill has been recognised for more than two centuries as London’s finest traditional gentlemen’s barber and perfumer. Providing discerning gentlemen with only the finest in grooming products and services, its offerings truly give one the opportunity to look and feel their very best.

Its products are formulated with exquisite blends of rare, natural and sophisticated essences. T&H offers a full line of shaving, fragrance, hair and bath products, as well as tools to provide a comprehensive daily grooming routine for the modern man.

The inspiration behind Henry Poole & Co’s products for The Gentlemen lies firstly in picking items that are at once traditional, yet perfectly suited to the wardrobe of the modern, well dressed man. This line of thinking brought Henry Poole & Co’s artisans firstly to cufflinks: an essential accessory of formal dress still very widely enjoyed today. In time-honoured tradition, Henry Poole has taken the stag, which forms the crest atop the Halstead family arms, and placed it on the face of a pair of traditional chain-link cufflinks, thus creating a timeless accessory.

To go with the cufflinks, Henry Poole & Co wanted to offer something that everyone could enjoy regardless of formality of dress, and opted for a silk scarf of lightweight wool (pictured above). The chosen silk incorporates a design referencing elements from the show in navy on an ivory ground, with a lightweight wool in matching navy on the reverse side. The beauty in this scarf lies not only in the luxurious silk and wool mixture, but also in its versatility; it is a great everyday piece, which also pairs well with more formal attire such as a dinner suit or velvet jacket.

Henry Poole & Co is a traditional Savile Row bespoke tailor, and famously the first establishment in Savile Row. It has earned 45 royal warrants since its founding in 1806, and is well known for inventing the dinner suit for the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VII, in 1865. Being a pure bespoke outfitter, every garment is cut and made on site by Henry Poole & Co’s skilled team of tailors, using techniques and traditions passed down through its 200-year-plus history.

Truefitt & Hill staff will be showing their expertise with VIP grooming sessions in-store at Henry Poole & Co over the concours’ two days, which can be booked in advance via Aldo at Henry Poole & Co on 0207 734 5985. This will involve a haircut, beard trim or traditional hot-towel wet shave. All appointments last 30 minutes, and pre-bookings are essential. The Gentlemen Sandalwood capsule grooming range will also be available to buy, alongside Truefitt & Hill’s much-favoured Mayfair range, plus the Highgrove collection produced in association with The King’s Foundation. King Charles III selected this fragrance himself, and allowed Truefitt & Hill to use one of his watercolours to form the basis of the packaging.
