Nyetimber, the English producer of world-renowned sparkling wine, is to return to Concours on Savile Row with its famous 1968 Routemaster bus.
The bus, which will be stationed on the corner of Burlington Gardens and Savile Row on May 22-23, 2024, is open between 10:00am and 6:00pm, and serving from 11:00am. VIP guests will be able to climb onboard and enjoy a glass of Nyetimber free of charge.
Nyetimber’s English vineyards share similar characteristics with the world’s best sparkling wine vineyards. Greensand and chalk soils allow its vines, in each of its separate sites, to flourish across the south of England. The climate there allows for the slow ripening of its grapes, allowing Nyetimber to achieve the optimum levels of ripeness and acidity, as well as a unique complexity and finesse.
Using solely estate-grown grapes from Nyetimber’s own vineyards ensures that only the finest fruit is used to craft the company’s globally acclaimed wines. The head winemaker, Cherie Spriggs, and her winemaker husband Brad Greatrix assess each hand-picked vineyard individually – from choosing the optimal time to harvest the grapes and supervising their gentle pressing, to eventual vinification. Nyetimber wines are produced in the traditional method, ageing them for extended periods of time to build complexity and flavour, and allowing for generous post-disgorgement time before release.
A new development for 2024’s Concours on Savile Row is that members of the public will now also be able to purchase a glass of sparkling wine onboard the Nyetimber bus. Nyetimber will also be hosting four tastings over the event’s two days for VIP badge holders: at 2:00pm on the bus, and at 3:30pm in Hackett on Wednesday; and at 3:30pm in Huntsman and at 5:00pm on the bus on Thursday. Nyetimber’s owner and CEO will also be sharing his thoughts on winemaking on the main stage on Wednesday at 4:20pm.
